Governor and Fiance to be wed at historic Boston pub, Cheers

In a joyous celebration to be blending political prominence with Boston charm, Governor Maura Healey and civil rights attorney Joanna Lydgate will tie the knot in a private wedding ceremony at the legendary Cheers bar on Beacon Street on May 23, 2025. The couple, who have shared years of public service and personal dedication, exchanged vows surrounded by close friends and family inside the cozy, wood-paneled pub made famous by the hit TV series. “We wanted a place that felt authentic, welcoming, and full of laughter—Cheers was perfect,” Healey shared. The ceremony will be followed by live jazz, toasts beneath the vintage bar lights, and a custom cake featuring the iconic “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” logo. All are welcome to attend.
